The human urge to decorate and express was so potently evident in this exhibition at the British Museum. I was fascinated by the castellation around the edges of the disc (something I use a lot in my designs), and the bracelet on the hands of pregnant woman, it means that decoration was intrinsic even 40,000 years ago! The decorated bones and mammoth teeth also go to show that pattern is everywhere and obviously always has been - nothing is new! I found it very moving and full of tenderness.
The exhibition ends on the 2nd June.
